Office Manager

As far back as she can remember, Brandi wanted to work with animals. The feeling she gets when a pet wags their tail upon seeing her or cuddles up in her arms is priceless! Brandi now serves as The Animal Hospital at Lake Brandt’s Office Manager.

Brandi grew up on a small farm in Ruffin, North Carolina, where she was always surrounded by animals. After high school, she completed a pet First Aid and CPR class and secured a job at a local kennel before moving to a veterinary practice in Elon.

One day, Brandi heard that a new practice was opening in Summerfield, very close to her home. When she realized that it was Dr. Jernigan opening the clinic—he had actually been Brandi’s family horse vet when she was younger—she jumped at the chance to work with him! She began working with Dr. Jernigan in 2005 and transferred to The Animal Hospital at Lake Brandt upon its opening.

Brandi and her husband Charlie live in Reidsville with their son, Ethan. They share their home with Annie (a rescued Puggle), Drake (a Chocolate Lab), and two Walker Coonhounds named Judge and Koba. During her spare time Brandi can be found cheering her son on at a wrestling match or on the baseball field.

Finance Officer

Ann’s husband, Dr. Jernigan, became the sole owner of The Animal Hospital at Lake Brandt in 2010. She was thrilled when he asked her to help with the clinic’s finances and bookkeeping! Being able to work with her husband and the compassionate staff of the hospital makes every day rewarding and fulfilling.

Ann was born and raised in Reidsville, North Carolina. Prior to working here at the hospital, she was a schoolteacher for 28 years.

Around the clinic, Ann manages the hospital finances, fills supply orders, and handles human resource responsibilities. When she needs a break from the numbers, you might find her checking out behind-the-scenes action in the clinic and visiting with puppies and kittens. She’s extremely proud to work alongside such kind, compassionate, upbeat veterinary professionals.

Ann and Dr. Jernigan’s oldest daughter, Julie, lives in Charlotte and works for an architectural firm. Their younger daughter, Katie Lin, works for a sports marketing group in Birmingham, Alabama. At home, Ann and her husband have a Boston terriers named Julian and an elderly cat named Sassy.

Away from the clinic, Ann is an avid gardener and raises a vegetable and herb garden every year. She also enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and traveling to warm beach locales.

Kayla grew up on horseback right here in Summerfield, and was always surrounded by everything from dogs and cats to goats, chickens, cows, and sheep. When her own horse, Sly, developed a hoof infection during Kayla’s childhood, the local veterinarians set to work returning the horse to good health. Watching Sly recover fully made a permanent impression on Kayla—she knew that she would love to work in the field of animal care herself!

Kayla’s veterinary journey started at a local boarding facility, where she served as a kennel attendant for a year. It wasn’t long before she wanted to learn more and start working hands-on with animals—that’s when she signed up at a nearby animal hospital and received on-the-job training to become a Veterinary Assistant. Now, Kayla is happy to help the pets and animal owners of the area as a member of The Animal Hospital at Lake Brandt family!

Outside of work, Kayla enjoys reading, trail riding with her husband—a huge horse-lover himself!—and spending time with her various animal companions at home.
